Our brief was to reorder a 4th/5th floor maisonette in a Grade II listed 19c terrace house in Kensington and to extend it into a newly acquired attic space on the other side of a central lightwell to provide a new kitchen/workspace. The original exposed timber roof structure was retained and new windows and rooflights were introduced. A glazed link and staircase was introduced to bridge the lightwell and connect the attic to the rest of the flat.
We were also asked to open up the existing 5th floor living space with full width sliding/folding doors onto a large roof terrace looking south over the garden square behind the building, to refit the bathrooms and bedroom storage and to upgrade mechanical and electrical services.
The kitchen was designed in conjunction with Jonathan Morton who also supplied and fitted the units and appliances.
